At the recommendation of Park County Public Health, the libraries and pools in Powell, Cody and Meeteetse have been closed to the public until at least April 5.
They were among several dramatic efforts being made locally to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause,” the Powell Aquatic Center said in a post; the Powell pool had already been scheduled to be closed to the public from Sunday, March 22 through April 5 for cleaning.
The Cody Rec Center has also been closed, while the Meeteetse Recreation District said it was canceling all its activities and events until further notice.
Although the doors to the county libraries will be closed to the public, library leaders plan to find a way to let patrons continue to borrow books and other materials from the county libraries.
“Curbside service is in the works,” Park County libary leaders said Monday. “Call for details.”
The Powell Library’s phone number is 307-754-8828.
The State Library Division also issued a reminder on Monday that Wyomingites can access a host of materials online, at www.GoWYLD.net.
“Your Wyoming library card opens up a world of resources ... that you can access from your home computer or electronic device,” they said. “With a library card from any Wyoming public or community college library you can read an ebook from cloudLibrary, enjoy a digital magazine or audiobook from RBDigital, brush up on a foreign language with Pronunciator, learn a new computer or career skill with Learning Express Library, or reinforce your children’s reading skills with Bookflix.”
Park County’s library system has additional resources.
