Leah Graham earns All-Conference honors

Competition in a difficult 3A West Conference led to limited honors for the Powell High School volleyball team, which had  one player receive All-Conference honors as junior setter Leah Graham earned the nod following her season at the net.

“Leah was our All-Conference recipient which was well-deserved,” coach Anna Flitner said. “I’ve seen a lot of growth from her in the last two years and couldn’t be more proud of her. She’s taken on more of a leadership role and has built up some confidence.”

Graham has been part of the Panther rotation since her freshman season and was a key piece of the Panther attack this year, finishing with 800 total assists and 76 kills. The next highest Panther for assists was 53.

“She’s an extremely smart setter and has the skill to go with it,” Flitner said. “There are some plays that she makes that I am still amazed by. She’s also become much more of an offensive threat this year with a greater number of kills on the season.”

Graham was also second on the Panthers with 43 aces, adding 256 digs and 66 total blocks, 17 of them solo.

She finished fifth for total assists in the state and was fourth in the west including for assists per set at 7.21.

“She is a very coachable player and I’m grateful to have her,” Flitner said. “It does help to have an incredible coach as a mom (Chelsi Graham) who I am also thankful for.”

Graham is one of a number of players returning for the Panthers next season after a 17-17-1 season.
