Billings escapes Cody with victoryThe Yellowstone Quake hockey team scored three goals within a three-minute span at the end of Friday's home contest against the Billings Bulls. Unfortunately, by that point, the home team had dug itself into a four-goal hole as the Quake fell for the first time on their home ice, 7-6. The Wyoming Junior A squad continued to score at a torrid pace on Saturday, stunning the Bozeman Icedogs with four goals in the opening 7:01 to breeze to a 5-2 win that leaves the team at 6-3 overall this season. Mathew Schulz had a pair of goals for the Quake on Friday night. Teammate Jake Doty added a goal and a pair of assists, but it wasn't enough to overcome a pair of Billings powerplay goals and some uncharacteristically loose net play by the Quake this weekend. Chris Rinaldi scored two of the Quake's five goals in Saturday's victory. This weekend will be a key early-season NORPAC twinbill for the Quake. The Cody team travels to Helena, Mont., on Friday to face the America West conference front-runner Helena Bighorns. Helena comes to Victor J. Riley Arena on Saturday for a Halloween evening return game against the Quake. Helena enters the weekend with a perfect 9-0 record and has won those games by an average of nearly four goals per contest. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. for Saturday's contest in Cody.
