Kenneth M. “Kenny” Nelson, 69, of Powell died on March 1, 2011, due to a sudden heart attack.

He was born in Powell on Nov. 3, 1941, to Paul H. and Katherine P. Nelson. He was a resident of Powell for most of his life, and graduated from Powell High School.

A car accident at the age of 21, which from then on left him confined to a wheelchair. Kenny had many challenges, and he overcame them all.

He was employed in the office of the Wyoming Department of Transportation in Cody and retired in 2001 after working there for 35 years. He enjoyed leather crafts and John Wayne movies.

He is survived by his sisters, Pauline (Richard) Cosgrove and Myrna (Del) Barber; aunt Ruby Lange; nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews; cousins and very special friends, Linda Cross, Kelly and Darwin Rowton and their children, Kourtney and Keaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clyde.

A gathering for everyone to honor Kenny’s life will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 111 W. Third St. in Powell, on Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m.

Cremation has taken place and burial will be in a private ceremony in Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.

Memorial donations in Kenny’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
