The Powell High School girls’ junior varsity basketball team continued its strong start to the season, moving to 4-1 after a 52-17 win over Rocky Mountain on Friday.

A strong first half had the Panthers leading 30-14, before a strong defensive second half helped lock down the Lady Grizz.

“We were really able to pick up our defensive intensity after the half and held Rocky to two points in the third and one in the fourth as we pulled away for the 52-17 win,” coach Troy Hildebrand said.

He said that it was a good all-around game for the team, with all eight players who suited up scoring in the game.

Ivy Agee led with 15 pounds, followed by Kaedenze Carter with 12 and Emery Hernandez with 11.

Leah Graham and Neveah Garcia had four each while Shelby Zickefoose, Melanie Garcia and Hali Hancock each had two.

The Panthers will return to Powell for the Big Horn Basin Classic, playing Wind River at 6 p.m. before playing another opponent Saturday dependent on the matchup for the varsity team.
