Justin Jake Hettinger unexpectedly passed away on Jan. 9, 2025, at the age of 61 in Billings, Montana.

He was born in Powell, Wyoming, on Nov. 25, 1963, to Richard and Lillian Fink Hettinger.

Justin graduated from Lovell High School in 1982 participating in rodeo and many sports. After graduating he then attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1986. He continued his passion for rodeo as an active participant of the NILE. He also had a huge passion for the Wyoming Cowboys — “GO POKES” — and any baseball game that he could go to.

Justin worked for Dick Anderson Construction for 16 plus years as a carpenter. He was a mentor to many new employees and loved every minute of it.

He is survived by sisters Susan and Annette and brother Bart; nephews, Jason and Colton; four nieces, Shyla, Kelsey, Hope and Madison; seven great nieces and nephews: McKaul, Gretchen, Maeve, Oliver, Kennadie, Ulysses and Rhys. He loved teaching them so many silly family songs such as the booger song and telling them that their aunts and grandmas wore Army boots. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins are too numerous to list.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lillian Hettinger, maternal and paternal grandparents plus numerous family members.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 537 Grand Ave., Billings, Montana.

Memorial donations may be made in Justin’s honor to Trinity Lutheran Church or American Legion Baseball.
