Joyce Donaldson, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at her rural Powell home with her husband and friends by her side.

Joyce was born April 20, 1934 in Yates City, Ill., the eldest daughter of Glenn and Bernice Clark. After graduating high school, she married her long-time friend Johnny Lee Donaldson. Their early years together saw them owning a service station and various other business enterprises.

In 1971 they moved to Greybull, and then to Powell in 1976, where they remained. Joyce was involved in banking for more than 15 years. For 30 years she was a hard-working partner in Country Wide Auction, a job she excelled at until 2011, when failing health mandated selling the business.

She was an accomplished musician and an avid sportswoman. She enjoyed camping and hunting, but her passion for fishing was well-known to all her family and friends, as was her appreciation for dogs.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Keith Slayton.

She is survived by her husband, John, sister Shirley (Richard) Slayton, brother Robert (Jane) Clark, sister Judy (Ralph) Duley and sister-in-law Leona Runyon.

A memorial gathering will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at the Powell American Legion Hall. Cremation has taken place and condolences may be sent to John Donaldson at P.O. Box 784, Powell, WY 82435. Memorial donations may be made to the Visually Impaired Program of Wyoming, c/o Bank of Powell at 856 Road 8, or First Bank of Wyoming, 245 E. First St. in Powell.

Atwood Funeral Home of Basin assisted the family with arrangements.
