Jesus G. Hernandez, of Powell, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the age of 81. After several months of declining health, Jesus died peacefully with his wife, Manuela, and their children by his side.
Jesus was born in Powell on Dec. 25, 1939. He served in the U.S. Army in Fort Lewis, Washington. While there, he earned the Medal of Expert Badge (Rifle Bar).
In 1960, he married the love of his life, Manuela Segura, and together they raised a family of five children.
Jesus loved Wyoming. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working in his huge garden.
Preceding Jesus in death were his parents, Jesus P. Hernandez and Victoria G. Hernandez; his brother, Refugio Hernandez; and sisters, Josie Hernandez, Christine Winters, Mary Marquez and Ramona Hernandez.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 61 years, Manuela S. Hernandez; son Jesse S. Hernandez; daughters, Maryann Galvan (Juan J. Galvan), of Harlingen, Texas, Ramona Gage (John Gage), of Montrose, Colorado, Barbara Reyes (Juan Q. Reyes), of Lubbock, Texas, and Candy Scozzari (Thomas E. Scozzari), of Billings, Montana. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sisters, Louise Gutierrez, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Connie Hernandez, of Dubois, Idaho.
