Welcome the new year with a visit to the Powell Library at the Park County Fairgrounds. This will be an exciting year for the community and library as we watch the completion of the new Powell Library. After construction is completed, the library will be able to begin work on transforming the empty building into a fantastic library for the Powell community.
January also brings the beginning of Winter Reading. This year Winter Reading will begin Jan. 20 and run until Feb. 28. Just finish a book and complete an entry slip to be entered into a chance to win a fun prize. The more you read the more chances to win.
The Powell Library is also once again planning for its second Trades Fair. The Trades Fair will take place on Saturday, March 28 and the library is actively looking for vendors in the skilled trades to be involved. If interested in participating, please contact Breanne at the Powell Library.
Cleaning up after Christmas? Well the Powell Library has the perfect solution: Bring your unwanted Christmas décor to our first ever Christmas Décor Swap on Thursday, Jan. 8 from 4-7 p.m.
Join the Powell Library as we offer a hands on/how to Water Bath Canning program on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Homesteader Hall kitchen.
Join us for Craft & Chat every Wednesday from 9-11 a.m.; bring your projects and enjoy fellow crafters as you craft and chat.
Powell Library is offering Family History Friday on Jan. 9. Sign ups required.
On Monday, Jan. 12, from 4-7 p.m. in partnership with Park County 4-H, the library will be hosting a fabric give and take. This is a great chance for sewers to find fabric and share their bounty.
On Friday, Jan. 9 from 1-3 p.m., come to the library and join us for All Ages Crafternoon to make a Venus Flytrap. On Friday, Jan. 16 from 1-3 p.m., ages 10-and-up join us as we will be making an airdry bookshelf snake.
Grab your Altered Book Club kit after Jan. 14 and create a book hedgehog.
Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. for faux stained glass. Adult Craft Night will be at the Powell Elks Lodge at 581 N. Clark St.
On Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m., join us for Quilling Program. Learn the art of quilling and make a snowflake.
Tuesday Afternoon Book Discussion meets on Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing “Virgil Wander” by Leif Enger. The evening book discussion will be meet on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. to discuss “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova.
Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday; sign up for a one-on-one session with Park County Library IT, who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on Jan. 20, signups required.
Join us at the library the week of Jan. 26-30 as we celebrate National Puzzle Day on Thursday, Jan. 29 with various puzzles and a take home puzzle piece craft.
Powell Library is offering Homeschool Hour on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 2-3 p.m., for ages K-12.

Bring the kids to the Powell Library for our wonderful children’s programming. Toddler Time is every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Join us every Wednesday for Storytime at 1:30 p.m. Join us for kids craft for grades K-5 on Friday, Jan. 23, 1-3 p.m. to make a Polar Bear craft. Join us on Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 3-5 p.m. for International Lego Day — come have fun building Legos. Parents, remember we have Early Literacy Kits as well as tonies for checkout. Also sign up your child for 1000 Books before Kindergarten. Make sure and check out the new book at the Storywalk at Homesteader Park. This month’s story is “Katy and the Big Snow” by Virginia Lee Burton.
All Park County libraries will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Wyoming Equality Day/Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
