Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home for Jacob Stephen Partridge, 27, Powell, who died Thursday, Sept. 7 at home with his family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 8, 1979, in Berlin, Vt., to Larry Stephen and Joy Nelson Partridge. He attended schools in Randolph, Vt., and earned his B.A. degree in Hospitality Management in 2001 from Johnson State College in Johnson, Vt.
Jake was also a graduate of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound Program. Until recently, he was the owner and general manager of the Super 8 in Powell.
He loved hunting, skiing, computers, movies, camping and travel. He had hunted in the East, as well as in Idaho, and had traveled to Quebec and Zimbabwe with his father. He was active in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and served on the Green Mountain Chapter committee for many years.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Joy of Powell; grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Merton Partridge of Randolph, Vt.; and other extended family in New Hampshire and Vermont.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Nelson of Moultonborough, N.H.; and by his greatest inspiration, his great-grandmother, Mrs. Mabel Varney of Strafford, Vt.
Marc Beaudry will officiate at memorial services. Honorary pallbearers include Robert McAdoo, Marc Beaudry, Kevin Rice, Rahim Kahn, Akihiro Uemura, Richard Huntley, Lyle Mccartney, William Brimmer and Eric Brimmer.
