Funeral services for a long-time resident of the Emblem Bench area, Irma Esther Schmoldt, 92, will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m.
She died Sunday, July 3 in Cody.
She was born in Emblem Oct. 18, 1912, daughter of Herman and Harriet (Gustmann) Ahlgrimm. She graduated from Greybull High School in 1930. She married William Kenneth Schmoldt at the Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem on June 7, 1936, and they began their lives together farming and ranching.
In July of 1957, she became a star route carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and delivered the mail from Greybull to Emblem, completing 32 years of service in 1989.
Survivors include her son, Dale (Lucille) Schmoldt of Cody; a grandson, Daryl Schmoldt of Blairstown, N.J.; a granddaughter, Dawn McFarland of El Cajon, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and three step-grandsons.
For those who wish, a memorial fund has been established at the Bank of Greybull where donations will be received in Irma’s name to go to the Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem.
