Inflatables knifed on Halloween

Following a story about the Bruski family on Cheyenne Street and the inflatables they put up each Halloween, they had an outstanding evening.

Kam Bruski said they handed out 360 bags of cotton candy from their decorated garage in six and a half hours. The candy used about 10 pounds of sugar, with the family changing over from the flavored type usually used for cotton candy to standard sugar, which worked fine, according to Kam.

“We were estatic about the turnout,” she said. When the family called it a night, they left the inflatables on for one more night.

Sadly, during the night, someone or several someones came into the yard and knifed several of the inflatables.

“They slashed the throat on our sea serpent, the head on our skeleton boy and the ghosts and pumpkins on the corner,” she said. The family didn’t call the damage in to Powell Police Department because no one had seen anything that might lead to the culprits.

The Bruski clan is hoping to repair the jagged knife slits, and Kam Bruski said it didn’t spoil the holiday for them.

“It made us mad, but we are hoping to ... repair them. It didn’t dampen our spirits. We had a wonderful night and so did the families who celebrated with us,” Kam Bruski said.

The family plans to use security cameras around the property next year.
