Ima Jean Baker Johnson, 93, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at the Eastside Health & Rehabilitation Center, Pittsfield, Illinois.
Ima Jean was born March 14, 1931 in Cameron, Missouri, second oldest of 11 children of Wayne and Anna Mary Baker. She married Gerald Dee Johnson in Powell, Wyoming, on Dec. 21, 1950. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2013.
Ima Jean and Gerald farmed in the Powell, Wyoming, area and after moving to Illinois, farmed in the Pittsfield, Illinois, (El Dara) area. They moved to Mendon, Illinois, where Ima Jean and Gerald both worked for Motorola for several years. They then moved to Eureka, Illinois, where she was a housewife, helping with the grandchildren, and loved her garden and flower beds.
She was preceded in death by Gerald Dee, her parents, two sisters, two brothers, son-in-law (Richard Sidwell) and three grandsons.
Ima Jean is survived five daughters: Nancy Bowen of Virginia, Illinois; LuAnna Sidwell of Griggsville, Illinois; Connie Carter (Don) of Bloomington, Illinois; Juanita Totsch (Terry) of Liberty, Illinois; and Mary Jeanette Miller (Dan) of E. Peoria, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Pittsfield, Illinois. There will be no public services or memorials.
