Rickard, 94, died Dec. 30, 2009, at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell.Hugh was born on June 21, 1915, in Orleans, Neb., the son of Harvey and Ethel (Barton) Rickard. He attended one year of college before marrying Audrey Shoemaker on Oct. 23, 1936, in Casper. Together they had three children: Ron, Terry and Judy.Hugh lived in Powell with his family, where he was a farmer. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. He was known as a soft-spoken, calm and happy person. He is survived by his son Ron Rickard (Dee) of Cody; daughter Terry Peterson (Bob) of Woodland, Calif.; brother Jim of Provo, Utah; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; his parents; his daughter, Judy; and two sisters, Vera and Vesta.Services will be held later this spring, with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. Donations in Hugh's name may be made to New Horizons Care Center. Thompson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
