On Dec. 11, UpStage Dance Academy held its third annual Holiday Showcase, featuring 135 dancers from Powell, Cody and the surrounding area. This year’s Showcase was separated into three different performances throughout the day, all held at the Nelson Performing Arts building at Northwest College.
UpStage Dance Academy, owned by sisters Katelyn and Mariah Lang, opened in the fall of 2019. Both sisters earned dance degrees at Casper College and say they enjoy spreading their love of dance to children. Their Holiday Showcase is one of two big recitals throughout the school year where the studio’s dancers get to shine on stage.
The Langs say they take pride in making dance a positive and affordable experience for families in the area, and they’re now offering a new experience: competition dance. Fourteen dancers, ranging in ages from 9 to 15, make up the 2022 UpStage Dance Academy Competition Team; they say they can’t wait to represent the Powell area. Dancers will be taking master classes and competing in multiple categories across three competitions in the surrounding area.
UpStage Dance Academy’s enrollment is currently open for new students, with classes for the new semester beginning Jan. 10. Contact Mariah Lang at 307-250-7779 for more information.
