In regards to the article published in the July 23 Powell Tribune, sharing of the passing of Jim Hillberry, it brought many feelings — one of concern for the family as they move forward through this difficult time, and one of loss for the City of Powell.
As the article shared with the readers, Jim was a big push for the better of Powell in many aspects, and I do not doubt that he worked hard on the many projects listed, as we as community members get to enjoy the rewards of some such projects listed.
As the program director of the Powell Senior Center, I would like to share with your readers that Jim was a cheerleader for the senior center and it was evident each year as we applied for the extra grant funding through the City of Powell.
I am given an opportunity to present in front of the city council to speak to this funding and listening to the remarks that Jim made were all very positive. I also had the opportunity to have some conversations with him regarding the center and the programs that we offer, and he shared with me how important he felt we were to this community and its seniors.
On behalf of the center, I would like to say you will be missed Jim — and thank you for all of your hard work for the center, and the better of the seniors in our community.
Program Director, Powell Senior Center
