Hilary Eugenia Cartwright died Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Hilary had her family in her heart, art on her mind and a pirate flag in her kitchen.

She was born on Sunday, March 20, 1983 in Riverton, the daughter of Michael and Meredith Cartwright and the little sister of Tricia.

On Tuesday, March 6, 2012, she earned a promotion and a raise as an insurance analyst at Beecher Carlson Insurance and Risk Management in Portland. That night, she died at peace and in her sleep of undetermined causes. She was 28.

Hilary attended Livingston Elementary and Cody Middle schools. In 2001, she graduated from Cody High School with a presidential scholarship. She adopted her mother’s ethic of independence and worked through her high school and college years.

She earned a scholarship to study art at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, where she took the opportunity to make a tour of Germany’s museums. She graduated from Rocky with honors in art and technical theater in 2005.

In April, 2007, she moved to Portland, where she worked at Beecher Carlson and graduated from the Art Institute of Portland with a degree in graphic design. While there, she took up running, and last year completed her first half-marathon. She shared her passion for running with bicycling on Brenda The Beige Bike.

She loved the night skies; the Pacific Ocean; her kitties Pica and Poe; her nephew Ethan Kindel, aka, The Esk-a-bob; baking;  and cheese from Tillamook, Ore.

She is survived by her mother Meredith Cartwright of Cody, her father Michael Cartwright of Lander; her sister, brother-in-law and nephew, Tricia, Randy and Ethan Kindel of Casper; her grandparents, William and Patricia Lamdin of Cody; her aunts, uncles and cousins include: Liz and William Lamdin of Billings; William, Kim, Grace and John Lamdin of Billings; Eleanor, Greg and Clare Halsey of Basking Ridge, N.J.; Michael and Kathleen Archbold of Tacoma, Wash.; Halley Archbold of Kauai; Adrian, Kathleen, Sarah, Emily and Alice Merryman of Nashville, Ind.; Carole Cartwright of Powell; and Adeline and Adam Albert.
