(May 14, 1944 - Aug. 27, 2001) The brother of a Powell man died Monday, Aug. 27 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 57. Herbert Vic Carter was born May 14, 1944, in Des Moines. He was raised in Pleasantville, Iowa, and graduated from high school there in 1962. He married Cathie Crews on Oct. 5, 1963, and they first made their home in Pleasantville where he worked for Hunt Farms.In 1974, they moved to Wyoming, and he became a heavy equipment operator for Harris Construction in Cody. They lived in Cody for four and a half years before returning to Pleasantville. They also lived in Cody from 1990 to 1997. For the last several years, he has owned and operated his own semi truck.Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Cathie; three daughters; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Ruby Carter of Pleasantville; four sisters and two brothers. His brother in Powell is Chris Carter.
