Helen Marie Werbelow, lifetime resident of Emblem, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at Powell Valley Care Center. She was 95.

Helen was born March 14, 1916 in Emblem to Carsten and Marie Jensen. She lived on the family farm with her parents, brother Nahne and sister Elsie. She attended Emblem Elementary School, graduating from the eighth grade, and then worked for the Preis family and worked on the family farm.

Helen met and married Lester Werbelow on Dec. 6, 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church. She joined her husband on their farm in Emblem where she lived for 66 years.

Helen was a member of the Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Emblem Community Club where she was a member and officer, the Embem Bridge Club, and a flower superintendent and exhibitor at the Big Horn County Fair for more than 40 years. She enjoyed her flowers, canning and sharing jokes.

She is survived by her daughters, Loretta (Roy) Herren of Billings and Rhonda (Thomas) Faulkner of Powell; grandchildren, Teo Faulkner, Steven (Janelle) Herren, Jenny (Ryan) Kindig, Scott (Dana) Werbelow, Wade Werbelow; eight great-grandchildren, Wesley and Wendy Werbelow, Carsten and Caden Werbelow, Calleigh and Luke Herren, Reese and Nash Kindig; one sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Robert Werbelow of Greybull, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester, son William, brother Nahne Jensen, sister Elsie Jones, grandson Anthony Werbelow, sisters-in-law Emma Jensen and Elaine Werbelow and brothers-in-law Vern and Louis Werbelow and Bill Jones.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem. Burial will take place in the Emblem Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church.
