Park County Disc Golf Club star Jay Hecht threw the second ace of the year during Thursday’s league play on July 2, sinking his drive on the 192-foot Hole 13 in front of a large group of players. But while the toss was his first ace at the Dee Havig Disc Golf Course on the Northwest Colloege campus, Hecht is no stranger to perfection.
The shot was his 10th hole-in-one, most happening at one of the four courses in Billings, he said.
“I threw my arms in the air and celebrated with [club members],” Hecht said “Everybody was excited for me.”
It is rare for Hecht not to finish a round on the podium, but the ace didn’t help him win the Thursday handicap league. He shot an 8-under on the course, but with a 5-under handicap, Hecht lost to club member Logan Roof.
Those celebrating with Hecht included Jordan Soloai, who threw the only other ace this year during club play, has once again broke the club record at the sprawling college course. The Powell doctor scored a 15-under on the par 56 course, smashing his previous record by three strokes.
After several construction projects have changed the course since it was built in 2021, the layout is settling down and more players seem to be finding the sport. A map of the course can be found at the club’s Facebook page.
The course is free and the college recreation department has loaner disc kits for students. The park is free and open to the general public. For more information go to: facebook.com/groups/380140993679777
