Powell’s off-leash dog park, Wiggly Field, officially opens this Saturday.
The event begins at 1 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at the park, located at Homesteader Park. Door prizes will be handed out from 1:30-3 p.m.
Pepsi will serve drinks, and Blair’s is providing cookies. For the dogs, Mr. D’s is providing treats.
The idea for the park began with Tina Fagan and Judy Londo, who organized and drove the fundraising, with the Powell Economic Partnership acting as the fiscal agent for the project.
Located near the City of Powell’s eastern water tower, the park features a fenced area, with benches inside and cement tubes for leash-free pooches to run through; water is also on site.
The City of Powell provided the land. Since March, over $26,000 in cash donations, as well as in-kind donations, came through from residents and businesses in Powell to make the park a reality.
Further upgrades are planned for the future, and people can donate via a GoFundMe site at www.gofundme.com/f/powell-dog-park.
