Due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the April 24 awards reception for the Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition was postponed.
In lieu of an in-person event, the Wyoming State Museum will use online media to promote featured artists.
The exhibit includes work by 62 artists from around Wyoming. Powell artists Stephanie Rose and Jane Woods have artwork featured in the 2020 exhibition, along with Cody artists Tanner Loren, Rowena Trapp and Rebecca Weed.
Artists and their works will be featured on the museum’s social media platforms. Additionally, the museum’s website will host a page from which visitors will be able to directly purchase artwork from the exhibition.
“The museum remains committed to supporting Wyoming artists, but we need to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved by adhering to Governor Gordon’s recommendations for social distancing,” the Wyoming State Museum said in a news release.
The juried exhibition, which is staged every two years, is scheduled to be on display through Aug. 13 in the Wyoming State Capitol Extension in Cheyenne.
Since preventative measures for COVID-19 will inevitably impact foot-traffic through the exhibit, residents are encouraged to view the artwork online at https://wyomingstatemuseum.square.site/.
