After a short forewarning, Glenda Jean Baird passed away the evening of Jan. 10, 2020. She had family with her at the time.

Glenda had just turned 75 in December and had celebrated her 55th wedding anniversary in March.

Glenda was born in Cody, and grew up and graduated high school in Powell. Glenda and her husband Jim came to Red Lodge, Montana, in 1969, and lived there ever since, where it is so easy to find lasting friendships.

Glenda’s profession was child raising, and she excelled at her work. She made everyone feel welcome with warmth and humor. She was passionate of the needs of Calvary Episcopal Church. A natural caregiver, she was a hospice volunteer for 19 years.

She loved the sports her children played and was a loyal Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She named her cat Franco Harris.

Glenda and Jim enjoyed a spring getaway to different places with longtime college friends. Close friends and family nicknamed her “the right hand of the Lord” or “Mother Theresa” or “Post-It Note Queen.”

She was quick with appropriate retorts and her humor never left her.

Glenda is survived by husband Jim; son Brian; daughters, Laura and Amy; sister Sandy (Jerry) Ellis of Cedaredge, Colorado; brothers, Darrell Gates and Larry (Terry) Schleich of Powell; and five grandchildren: Jacob, Joshua, Lauren, Taylor, and Jack.

A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Episcopal Church, at 9 North Villard, in Red Lodge, on June 27 at 11 a.m.

Should anyone desire to honor her with a memorial, her choice would be Calvary Episcopal Church or Beartooth Hospice.
