Gerald "Jerry" Dale Good, 75, of Cody, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. Jerry was born June 18, 1949, in Cody, Wyoming, to Dale and Jeanie Good and grew up on the family homestead located on Heart Mountain. He was a very active and independent toddler, and went on many "solo" adventures on the farm, creating a bit of panic for his parents. He spent his childhood running across the wide-open fields of the farm where his father grew alfalfa, barley, peas, potatoes and pinto beans, as well as raising Angus cattle — a backdrop that fueled Jerry's lifelong love for nature, machines and hard work.
As a youth, Jerry was a bundle of energy and curiosity. He competed in wrestling and track and was a member of band, C-Club and 4-H in high school and found a deep passion for mechanics and cars. This love led him to the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he pursued studies in aeronautics and mechanics.
While in Tulsa, Jerry met Sue Golden. The two married in 1970. They then returned to Cody and welcomed their son, Sean, in 1973. Though they eventually went their separate ways, Jerry's love for family remained constant in his life. In 1988, he married Kathy Lynn, who brought two more sons into his life, Jared Whitney and Jesse Good.
Jerry built a lasting career in Cody, where he was known for his mechanical skill, reliability and generous spirit. He worked at Webster Chevrolet, CarQuest, and spent many dedicated years at Napa Auto Parts helping neighbors and friends keep their vehicles running smoothly. He was especially known for rescuing his nieces during their early driving years — always ready with tools, a steady hand and a heartful of kindness.
With Kathy and their family, Jerry embraced the outdoors. They shared a love for camping, fishing, photography and watching drag racing. He continued to work on cars and tinker with anything mechanical, finding joy in both the challenge and the opportunity to help others.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Good; sons Sean Good, Jared Whitney, and Jesse (Lacey) Good; 10 grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy; sister Nancy Evagelatos; brothers Ron Good and Mike Good, along with many cherished nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be on May 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery with a luncheon following at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Jeanie Good Nursing Scholarship at Northwest College or the Heart Mountain Internment Center, two causes that are close to the family's heart. Jerry will be remembered for his generous spirit, his mechanical mind, and his steadfast love for family and community.
