Gerald Arnold Johnson

Gerald Arnold Johnson, a citizen of Powell, died in Billings on Nov. 21, 2013, following a short illness. He was 87.

Gerald was born to Carey Augustus and Marguerite Johnson on May 4, 1926.

He married Wilma E. Harrelson, his wife of 65 years, on June 3, 1948, in McLeansboro, Ill.

Gerald was a WWII Army veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired after 30 years as a petroleum engineer with Haliburton. He also was a Mason and a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Powell.

Gerald was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; daughter Katherine Powell of Waco, Texas; daughter Jeanette (Martin) Bohlmeyer of Kersey, Colo.; brother Charles (Susie) Johnson; and sister Betty Campbell. Gerald also is survived by his grandchildren Anna (Greg) Burrow, Beth (Joe) Phyillaier, Adam (Ashley) Bohlmeyer; and five great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Curtis.

Gerald will be buried with a graveside service for family only at Crown Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27. Rev. Don Rushing will officiate.  

The family requests memorial donations be made to Powell Senior Citizen Center, First Southern Baptist Church of Powell or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory.
