Geni Hunder, 31, of Rifle, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 17, after a long battle with cancer. She was 31.

Geni was born Feb. 10, 1977, in Grand Junction, Colo., to Jay Hunder and Debra Mattingly. She lived in Rifle for the last nine years, and for the last eight years worked as a truck driver for Gould Construction. She loved driving truck and her co-workers became her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, as well as spending time with her daughter and nephews, Dominic (Bubba) and Zach.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Jay and Cindy Hunder; mother and stepfather, Debra (Mattingly) and Ron Smith; daughter, Dayna Zertuche; brothers, Jason (Jessica) Hunder, Steven (Melinda) Hunder; stepbrothers, Coby (Molly) Croft; Michael (Michelle) Croft and Pat Croft; and her grandmother, Mary Ann Hunder.

She was preceded in death by her son Tyrese Hunder, grandparents Charles and Elaine Mattingly, grandfather Kenneth Hunder, and her aunt, Joanne Hisel.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 21 in Rifle, Colo. Donations may be made to Dayna's college fund at Rifle Community Bank.
