Gary Richard Sweet passed away Friday, Jan. 17 at the age of 76.
Gary was born to Richard and Melba Sweet on Nov. 13, 1948, the oldest of five children. Gary married Vicky Sherman in 1967 and they welcomed three boys. They later divorced.
Gary was a very hardworking man who had mechanics in his blood. He worked numerous jobs as a heavy duty mechanic, he also owned a trucking business, multiple repair businesses and a gaming business.
Gary met the love of his life, Laura Coen, close to 30 years ago. They had many great adventures together, but all his grandkids were his greatest joy.
He was a hunter, fisherman, businessman, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Eagles.
Gary leaves behind his sons Travis (Kim) Sweet, Tracy (Stacy) Sweet and Troy (Jamie) Sweet; his grandchildren Alex, Matthew (Ashlee), Brooklyn (Dalton), Alysia, Michel and Ryan Sweet; his siblings Ron (Laurie) Sweet, Steve (Linda) Sweet, Doug Sweet and Judy (Bill) Banner; his great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Gary will be greatly missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Powell.
