Gary Rickard died unexpectedly on Feb. 27, 2011 at his home in Boise, Idaho. He was born on June 26, 1959 in Cody to Verley and the late W. D. “Tex” Rickard.
Gary graduated from Cody High School. Afterward he attended and graduated from Northwest College in Powell. He became co-owner of the Cody Gambles store and a prominent associate in the local business community, where he was well liked by many of the store’s customers.
Deciding to sell his share of Gambles, he attended and graduated from the University of Wyoming where he was fortunate enough to meet his dearest friend and confidant, Tandi Valdez, who was working at the UW library.
Gary began his career with General Motors, then with GMAC, which then became Ally in the automotive remarketing field. His coworkers all greatly appreciated his sense of humor and sense of professionalism while he worked in Denver and Boise.
He enjoyed spending time with Tandi and his family. Gary also enjoyed traveling, with his latest venture to Australia with his mother, Verley Rickard, sister, Lora Ballweber, and brother-in-law, Jeff Ballweber.
Gary is also survived by his sister, Toni, and brother-in-law Mike Megee; and brother Dale Rickard; five nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and great nephews.
Services for Gary were held Monday, March 7 at the Ballard Funeral Home with interment at Riverside Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations in Gary’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
