A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17 at the Powell Eagles Hall for Gail (Henneberg) Piechowski, 54, who died Saturday, July 12 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont.
A second memorial service will be conducted Sunday, July 20 in Appleton, Minn., at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1 p.m.
Gail worked as a nurse for many years in and around Appleton, Minn., and Milbank, S.D. She moved to Powell in December of 1993 and was working as a nurse at Mountain View Medical Center in Powell at the time of her death.
She was born March 4, 1954, in Appleton, Minn., to Glen and Barbara Henneberg. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1972 and continued her education at Willmar VoTech. She married Craig Schlueter Aug. 10, 1974.
After moving to the Powell area, she married Francis (Butch) Piechowski on July 26, 1996. Gail enjoyed spending time outdoors — hunting, camping, fishing and ATV-ing. She also was fond of tending to her yard and garden in Ralston, as well as crocheting and knitting. She ran All Star Darts in and around the Powell area and put on several memorial dart tournaments to benefit charities. She was an Avon representative in Powell for many years.
Gail loved spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her special friend, Jeff Hincks of Powell; her sons, Ryan Schlueter of Ralston and Nathan Schlueter and special friend, Jasmine Kohn of Milbank, S.D.; a stepson, Dennis Piechowski in California; her daughter, Heidi (Schlueter) and Derek Steffen of Millbank, S.D., and two stepdaughters, Cris Chapin (Rick) of Webster, S.D., and Becky Johnson (James) of Milbank, S.D.; a brother, Gary Henneberg (Mary) of Holloway, Minn.; and a sister, Betty Henneberg and special friend, Wynn (Gus) Gustafson, of Arden Hills, Minn. She is also survived by two nieces, Clara and Melissa; a nephew, Joe; a great-nephew, Jesse; and a great-niece, Missy; and several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Butch Piechowski; her grandparents; her parents; an infant sister, Kathy Henneberg; and an infant nephew, Hoyt Boxrud.
