Starting Friday and continuing through Dec. 5, visit the Meeteetse Museums from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Thursday through Saturday to explore northwest Wyoming through the eyes of its talented artists. The show, featuring local artists, is free and open to the public. Special hours are offered from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 20 in addition to regular hours.

The show celebrates the rich artistic heritage of the Big Horn Basin with art in various mediums, including acrylic, oil, photography, beadwork and fiber art. Artists include Paul Kethley, Graham Snow, Ronda McLean, Larry Edgar, Karen McBride, Joe Thomas, Diana Scranton and Rhonda Schmeltzer.

Cody Ace Hardware donated the $500 cash prize for first place winner “Encampment at Ramshorn,” by Kethley. The second place prize of $250, donated by the Wea Market of Meeteetse, was awarded to “Crossing the Divide” by Edgar. The third place prize of $100 was awarded to “Wyo-
ming’s Flower” by Schmeltzer.

“Congratulations to our winners and thank you to our sponsors for their generous donations allowing us to support community artists,” Meeteetse Museums said in a news release.

The prizes were awarded by judges Karen Brooks McWhorter and Vic Payne. McWhorter is the Scarlett Curator of Western American Art for the Whitney Western Art Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody. Payne is a noted western sculptor and artist who has been sculpting for more than 35 years. He recently opened a studio in half of the Meeteetse Mercantile.

Meeteetse Museums officials added that the show offers “a wonderful opportunity to support local artists as some artists are selling their work.”
