The Powell Valley Hospital Foundation’s main fundraiser, the annual Mardi Gras celebration, will take over Heart Mountain Hall at the Park County Fairgrounds starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The largest foundation fundraiser of the year includes an authentic Cajun dinner with live music, games, raffles and live and silent auctions. And since it’s Mardi Gras, the PVHC hospital staff and volunteers serve in exchange for beads.
And as always, the fundraiser includes a key goal.
“Our campaign is a big one this year,” Foundation Director Amy Wells said. “We are the first in the entire Big Horn Basin to offer contrast-enhanced mammography.”
Contrast-enhanced mammography is a new technology that can detect cancers that might be missed by traditional imaging.
Last year, funds were raised to upgrade the hospital cafe.
For more than 40 years, Powell Medical Foundation has raised funds for Powell Valley Healthcare and donors have gifted over $2.5 million in support. In the past couple years, funds have gone for a project expanding clinical space at the hospital and an operating room remodel.
