Dear editor:
This is a response to a letter in the Powell Tribune dated Jan. 26 entitled “ICE in Minnesota." The contributor wrote a succinct one sentence “Resistance is futile. Protesters will be shot.” While very short and to the point, it’s becoming apparent that this United States has a segment of population devolving into a lawless hoard. This seemingly innocuous sentence stated in the letter is profound and implies that the simple act of protesting will result in an unprovoked shooting. They have mistaken the act of protesting to allow violence, destruction, obstruction of law officers, and mayhem as a First Amendment right. There is no constitutional protection for activities other than peaceful protest. We are constantly amazed at the actions by this sub-species of civilized Americans who consider lawless acts acceptable by any standard. So, lawless hoard, bear in mind that lawless activities do have consequences.
Sincerely,
Bob & Linda Graff
Powell
