Pursuant to a proclamation from President Donald Trump, Gov. Mark Gordon has ordered both the U.S. and State of Wyoming flags be flown at half-staff statewide from sunrise to sunset on Friday, for Peace Officers Memorial Day. The day is set aside to honor local, state, and federal peace officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.
“On behalf of our grateful Nation, we proudly recognize the more than 900,000 sworn members of law enforcement for their resolve and dedication in the face of dangerous uncertainty,” Trump wrote in his proclamation. “The thoughts and prayers of our Nation are with them and their families, and we will always owe them our appreciation and support.”
