As the primary election nears, candidates for the fall general election races are beginning to announce, as the filing period for school board, college board and special districts such as hospital, fire and cemetery opened Wednesday and runs until Aug. 24.
For Northwest College board of trustees, Powell representatives R.J. Kost and Denise Laursen’s seats are up, as is Cody representative John Housel.
As for Park County School District 1, Trace Paul, Lillian Brazelton, Beau Fulton and Dusty Paul’s four-year terms are up.
There are also four seats available on the Powell Hospital District, as Scott McKenzie, Syd Thompson, R.J. Kost and Michelle Hill’s terms are up.
Check back in future editions for updates on what incumbents have filed to run again and what challengers have filed.
Beyond those, two boards seats are up on school boards in Meeteeetse and Cody as well as numerous special districts, including Park County Fire District 1 and the Crown Hill Cemetery District, both of which have three of their six seats up for grabs.
