Elaine Helen Schweighart died peacefully at 5:47 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis with her family at her side.
She was born Feb. 29, 1940, in Thermopolis to Ray and Irene Thronburg. She was raised on the family farm on Owl Creek.
After her sophomore year in school, she met and married Allen Schweighart on July 15, 1956. To this union were born three children, Jeff, Crystal and Karla.
Elaine was employed for 20 years with Hot Springs County School District No. 1 as a teacher’s assistant at Ralph Witters Elementary School. The past eight years were devoted to logistic measures of a big game guiding service with Hot Springs Outfitting, Inc.
She loved children, being with her family, experiences in the outdoors, including camping, hunting and mountain creek fishing. The hobbies she enjoyed most were embroidering, watching professional bull riding and her exceptional cooking, for which she was widely known. She liked an assortment of sporting events, football being a favorite, and was an associate of the Cowboy Joe Club.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thermopolis.
She is survived by her husband, Allen of Thermopolis; her mother, Irene; her three children, Jeff (Cindy) Schweighart of Powell, Crystal (Darek) Shapiro of Stamford, Conn., and Karla (Alan) Pomeroy of Lovell; two brothers, Craig (Joann) Thronburg of Colorado, and Doug (Ethel) Thronburg of Thermopolis; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her father, Ray; and a sister, Diana.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Thermopolis. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery.
