The Powell Middle School girls’ track and field teams posted strong results in the final meet of the regular season, as the eighth graders dominated the competition in Lovell by 71 points and the seventh graders finished fourth.
Individually the eighth grade girls won five individual events and one relay, as Aubree Kraft won both the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 29.09 seconds, as well as the 1600 meters in 5:47.33; Maci MaGill claimed the 400 meters in 1:02.65; Autumn Kleinfeldt won the pole vault clearing 9 feet, 9 inches, and Tabbetha Turner won the shot put throwing 26-6.
The lone relay win for the Cubs came in the 800 sprint medley, as the team of Kimber Allan, Kleinfeldt, MaGill and Kraft won with a time of 2:05.69, 29 seconds ahead of second place.
As a team the eighth graders added a number of top five finishes, as Kleinfeldt was second in the 100 meter dash (13.54) and the 200 meters (27.76); Finley Franklin was second in the 200 meter hurdles (34.54), third in the 100 meter hurdles (19.25) and fifth in the high jump (4-3); Karen Richmond was second in the long jump (13-2); Allan was second in triple jump (31-2 1/2); Teagan Gillett took third in the long jump (13-1) and fourth in the triple jump (23-4 1/4); MaGill placed third in the triple jump (30-0 1/2); Iyla Whitlock was fourth in the 200 meter hurdles (20.52); Audrey Hultgren placed fourth in the shot put (23-4 1/4); Sophie Villanueva was fifth in the 800 meters (2:53.41) and Turner was fifth in the discus (55-9).
As a team the Cubs had 179 points, 71 ahead of second place Lovell.
The seventh grade Cubs were led by a three event winner in Jade Miller, who won the 100 meter dash (14.03), 200 meters (28.64) and the long jump (13-10 1/2).
Other top five finishers included Lilly Lennon who placed third in the pole vault (7); Kalia Wisniewski took third in the triple jump (27-10 1/4); Malina Anderson took fourth in the 200 meters (31.89); Tenley Shorb was fourth in the 400 meters (1:14.33) and Maryssa Giltner took fourth in the discus (55-9).
As a team the seventh grade Cubs had 95 points to take fourth, 10 points behind Burlington in third while Lovell was first with 165 points.
The Cubs open the postseason in Worland on Saturday for the Yellowstone Conference Track Meet before heading to the Best of the Best in Lander on Tuesday.
