Though Election Day doesn’t arrive until Nov. 3, early voting for the 2026 general election begins today (Tuesday).
From now through Nov. 2, Park County residents can vote at the elections office inside the Cody courthouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
Alternatively, residents have the option to request absentee ballots, which can be received and returned by mail or in-person at the elections office.
As of Monday afternoon, the county reported that 1,714 residents had requested absentee ballots; that’s about 700 fewer than the same point in 2024, which was a presidential year.
First Deputy Park County Clerk Hans Odde said foot traffic and phone calls to the elections office have picked up in the last two weeks, but “for the most part, it’s just been sporadic at best.”
The majority of the 10,061 voters who participated in August’s primary election — about 57.2% — cast their ballots on election day at their designated polling place, while 28.3% voted early at the courthouse and 14.5% voted absentee.
