Park County Public Health held a flu shot drive through clinic Oct. 7 at the Park County Fairgrounds. The clinic was so well attended that the afternoon session had to close up early because the clinicians were out of vaccine.
“Our first count, which is probably very accurate, was 501. We actually ran out of vaccines, which is a good problem to have,” said Lillian Brazelton, office manager for the Powell Public Health office.
A second clinic is planned for Oct. 14, this time at the Cody Stampede Rodeo Grounds. It will also be in a two session format, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
Residents with Medicare Part B can present their card and receive the shot at no cost. Adults without that coverage are charged $25 while children younger than 18 pay only $20 for the vaccination.
Here in Powell, according to social media posts from the health office, shots are also available on a walk-in basis from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. each Monday in October and November (except holidays) at the public health office.
The vaccine is also available at the Cody Public Health office from 1 to 4:30 p.m. each Wednesday and Friday in October and November, except holidays.
Businesses with more than 10 employees can contact the public health office nearest them and arrange an in house flu shot clinic.
