Drive-thru COVID testing now at Cody Stampede Rodeo grounds

Posted

Effective today (Thursday) drive-thru testing for COVID-19 by Cody Regional Health has been relocated to the Cody Stampede Rodeo grounds.

The change of venue will allow more testing and more hours in response to a surge in testing requests.

“We have seen an increased demand in the community with rising numbers of exposures and increasing positive cases,” stated Keith Ungrund, CCO at Cody Regional Health.

Park County had 57 active confirmed or probable cases on Wednesday, according to state data, with four COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Cody Regional Health.

The rodeo grounds are at 519 W. Yellowstone Ave. in Cody. Testing is now offered from 8 - 11 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Tests are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will end when the allotted test kits are depleted.

Results may take up to seven days, depending on the type of test available. The supplies can change daily.

Cost for the testing is $25 per person, by check, debit or credit card. No cash is accepted.

Cody Regional Health CEO Doug McMillan said the organization “recognizes the value and importance of having the ability to access drive-thru testing as we are seeing some community members with mild symptoms not sick enough for the walk-in clinic or emergency room.”

“... we would like to continue as long as feasible and based on available resources,” McMillan said. “We thank everyone for their patience as we do our best to navigate around this national pandemic.”

Patients experiencing COVID-19 symptoms — including shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations or other more serious symptoms — should go to the closest ER or call 911.
