Former Powell resident Diane Ramsay, 56 of Naperville, Ill., died suddenly at her home on Dec. 2, 2009.
She was born March 22, 1953 in Aurora, Ill., to Mary Jane (Manning) and George Ramsay. Diane was a Naperville Central High School graduate, with the class of 1971. She later graduated from the National College of Chiropractic. At the time of her death, she was employed by Sun-Times Media.
Diane was not only a mother to her children, but to many of her children's friends. She loved to dance and play with her grandchildren, and she could always brighten the room with her smile.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Howell and Helen Manning; her father, George Ramsay and a brother, David Ramsay.
Diane is survived by her mother, Mary Jane Ramsay of Naperville; sons Devin Nelson (Angela) and Brennan Nelson (Theresa), all of Yorkville, Ill.; daughter Nissa Stevenson (Robby) of Oceanside, Calif.; grandchildren, Caden, Trevor, and Owen Nelson and David and Sophia Stevenson; sisters Deborah Ramsay of Palm Desert, Calif., and Dawn Heitz (Mark) of Naperville; sister-in-law Bobbi Ramsay of Lexington, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services have taken place in Naperville, followed by interment at the Naperville Cemetery.
