(July 16, 1955 - March 26, 2006) Deon June Carpenter Dawson, 79, died Monday, March 26 at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell. She was born in Powell in 1927, the youngest of five children born to Clyde and Mary (Frazee) Carpenter. She attended the local schools and graduated from Powell High School in 1948.She married Stan Dawson on July 16, 1955, and to this union their only daughter, Debra, was born. Deon was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting and embroidery. Many of her friends received handmade gifts from her and she made special sweaters for family members. In June of 2002, Deon moved from her home of 47 years to the New Horizons Care Center.She is survived by her daughter Debra (Michael) Logan; grandsons Andrew and Jason Logan, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stan on June 18, 1990; older siblings Gladys Carpenter, Elva Carpenter, Dale Carpenter and Nola Pendley. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Powell with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
