December happenings at the library

The Park County Library Foundation will be hosting a booksale in the Heart Mountain Hall at the Park County Fairgrounds on Friday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Friends of the Powell Library will also be hosting a Puzzle Sale at the same location. 

Come to the Powell Library and fill out Christmas Cards for Veterans. From Dec. 1-Dec. 15; make sure to come in and make a card for a veteran to show them you care. 

Join us for Craft & Chat every Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. Bring your projects and enjoy fellow crafters as craft and chat. 

This month, we will have three all ages crafts for everyone to enjoy this holiday season. On Friday, Dec. 5 from 1-3 p.m., come to the library and join us for a slime party, where you can make your own slime. On Friday, Dec. 12 from 1-3 p.m. all ages are invited to come and make a gingerbread house for National Gingerbread House Day. On Friday, Dec. 19 from 1-3 p.m. we will be making pinecone trees. 

Grab your Altered Book Club kit after Dec. 10 and create a book page snowflake.         

Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. for craft catch up night. Adult Craft Night will be at the Powell Elks Lodge at 581 Clark St.         

Tuesday Afternoon Book Discussion meets on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing “The Twelve Dates of Christmas.”

Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday; sign up for a one-on-one session with Park County Library IT who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on Dec. 16; sign ups required.  

The Powell Library is offering Homeschool Hour Thursday Dec. 4 and 18 from 2-3 p.m. for ages K-12. 

Bring the kids to the Powell Library for our wonderful children’s programming. Toddler Time is every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Join us every Wednesday for Storytime at 1:30 p.m. Parents, remember we have Early Literacy Kits as well as tonies for checkout. Also sign up your child for 1000 Books before Kindergarten. Make sure and check out the new book at the Storywalk at Homesteader Park. This month’s story is “Winter’s Gift,” by Jane Monroe Donovan. 

All Park County libraries will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25 for Christmas. All libraries will close at 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
