Competing in Lander to finish the season the Powell Middle School girls’ track and field teams had some impressive performances at the Best of the Best on May 12, as the Cubs ended the year strong.
The eighth grade girls led the way with two individual first place finishes.
Aubree Kraft took the lone win on the track, as she won the 800 meters in a photo finish with a time of 2 minutes, 33.43 seconds to win the race by .08 seconds.
Maci MaGill had another strong day in the triple jump, as she won by four inches with a leap of 33 feet, 9 1/2 inches.
The eighth graders added one more victory, as MaGill and Kraft teamed up with Autumn Kleinfeldt and Kimber Allan to win the 800 sprint medley with a time of 2:03.92.
Kraft added a second place finish in the 1600 meters (5:33.11), MaGill added third place finishes in the 200 meters (27.25) and the 400 meters (1:03.16) while Kleinfeldt was the other Cub taking a top three position in the pole vault (7-6).
Other top eight individual finishes for the eighth grade girls included Kleinfeldt who took sixth in the triple jump (30-6) and eighth in the 200 meters (28.06); Finley Franklin was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles (18.21) while Charlee Muecke was eighth in the discus (72-7) and tied for eighth in the shot put (26-0 1/2).
The 4x400 relay team of Sophie Villanueva, Franklin, Teagan Gillett and Iyla Whitlock placed eighth with a time of 5:17.78.
