WASHINGTON (AP) — Ted Cruz won most of the delegates at stake in Saturday's Republican county conventions in Wyoming.
The Texas senator won nine of the 12 delegates that were up for grabs. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and billionaire businessman Donald Trump won one apiece. One delegate was uncommitted.
Park County was one of the 11 counties that did not get to pick a delegate to the Republican National Convention this time around. Local Republicans did pick an alternate delegate, Rep. David Northrup of Powell, who described himself as undecided but "leaning" toward Cruz. Since he is only an alternate, Northrup's preference will have no direct bearing on the presidential race.
The Associated Press did not declare a winner in Wyoming on Saturday because another 14 of the state's delegates will be awarded at the party's state convention on April 16. A total of 30 local Republicans will represent Park County at the state convention.
Trump leads the overall race for delegates with 460. Cruz has 369, Rubio has 153 and John Kasich has 54.
It takes 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination for president.
