Two people were taken to Powell Valley Hospital for treatment after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning.
According to the Park County Sheriff’s Office, it was around 7:30 a.m. that a southbound truck failed to yield at the intersection of Lane 11H and Road 8 south of Powell. The truck, traveling at 40 mph, collided with an SUV that had been heading west on Lane 11H.
“The truck hit the SUV’s passenger side with its front end and pushed it into a small irrigation ditch on the south west portion of the intersection,” said Charla Baugher Torczon, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. “Subsequently the truck’s front end caught and tripped causing it to roll a half rotation over its front side ending resting on top of the SUV.”
Emergency responders were paged to the scene and attended to the occupants and the vehicles.
“Everyone was wearing their seatbelts,” Baugher Torczon said. The driver and the passenger of the SUV were transported to Powell Valley Hospital for their injuries, while the report from the sheriff’s office did not note any injuries for the occupants of the truck. The truck’s driver, who was not named by the sheriff’s office, was cited for failure to yield.
