The prevalence of COVID-19 appears to be continuing to drop in Park County.
As of Wednesday, there were 43 confirmed and probable active cases in Park County. That was down from 47 such cases a week earlier and represented one of the lowest figures in months.
Public health officials have also said it remains to be seen what impact the new omicron variant will have, as it only recently arrived in Wyoming.
Meanwhile, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Park County dipped slightly as well — from seven patients on Dec. 22 to six on Wednesday. That included four patients at Powell Valley Healthcare and two at Cody Regional Health.
No new deaths were reported by the Wyoming Department of Health this week. Since the start of the pandemic, the deaths of 117 Park County residents have been tied to COVID-19 among 5,660 recorded cases.
As of Monday, 12,430 county residents were fully vaccinated against the disease, up by 54 people from last week and representing about 42.6% of the population. The county average is slightly below the state vaccination rate of 43.3% and significantly below the national average of 61.9%.
