The Park County Commissioners have granted three scholarships to high school seniors in Powell, Cody and Meeteetse, as well as a renewal to one college freshman and Cody grad.
The commissioners grant three $1,000 scholarships yearly for students headed to the University of Wyoming and choose through a crop of county seniors who apply. This year, Chair Dossie Overfield said that included seven Cody seniors, four Powell seniors and one Meeteetse senior.
After ranking the applicants, the commissioners unanimously selected Powell’s Lyla Nieves, Cody’s Remy Broussard and Meeteetse senior Jaycee Ervin.
Powell senior Gabriella Paterson was selected as the alternate.
Last week, two weeks after the initial selections, commissioners voted to grant 2022 recipient Allison Edwards of Cody another $1,000 as the yearly renewal scholarship pick.
