Community invited to help fund marker for Wyoming Veterans Memorial Park

CODY — As America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is inviting the community to help create a lasting tribute to the patriots whose courage and sacrifice secured our nation’s independence.

The chapter is raising funds to install a 24-inch by 24-inch bronze America 250 Patriot Marker at Wyoming Veterans Memorial Park in Cody. The monument will serve as a permanent reminder of the ideals, valor, and commitment of the men and women who helped establish the United States while encouraging future generations to appreciate and uphold those same principles.

The project is planned as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration and will become a lasting educational and historical landmark for residents and visitors alike.

The DAR chapter has already received a $500 grant toward the project. To meet the manufacturing schedule, the chapter must raise an additional $2,924 by Aug. 1, 2026. A $1,712 down payment is required before the bronze marker can be ordered.

Community members, businesses, veterans’ organizations, and patriotic supporters are encouraged to contribute. Donations are tax-deductible and will help ensure this meaningful tribute becomes a reality.

“Our goal is to create a lasting legacy that honors our Patriot ancestors while inspiring appreciation for the conviction, courage, and sacrifice that founded our nation,” said Carol Armstrong, chairman of the DAR Patriot Plaque Project. “Every gift, regardless of size, brings us closer to dedicating this monument during America’s 250th anniversary celebration.”

For more information or to make a donation, contact Armstrong at momcat88@outlook.com or (307) 587-6192

The DAR thanks the community for its continued support in preserving America’s history and honoring those whose service and sacrifice made the nation possible.
