The Cody Figure Skating Club wrapped up its competitive season with the 12th annual Cody Spring Classic/Cowboy State Games competition on April 11-13 at Riley Arena, bringing in competitors from around the region to one of the biggest competitions in the mountain region.
Cody welcomed in skaters aged 3-73 from Wyoming and the surrounding states, as 135 athletes performed over 480 starts (beginnings of routines).
Club president Lisa Bowden said that the annual event brought in slightly more athletes than last year.
“According to our referee, this is the biggest nonqualifying competition from Seattle to Fargo,” Bowden said.
She said that club competitors include athletes from Powell, Thermopolis and other surrounding areas in addition to Cody, as Cody Figure Skating Club members brought home 91 medals from the event.
Bowden said they typically attend competitions in Casper, and Montana cities Billings, Helena and Great Falls. Lessons for the club will start up again in September.
