Cody Public Art Committee seeks artist for mural

Posted

Cody Public Art Committee (CPAC), a committee appointed through the City of Cody, is seeking an artist to create a mural that incorporates themes of Wyoming’s unique Western culture. Relevance to Cody’s history and heritage is also encouraged.

CPAC was created to enrich the cultural and historical aesthetics of the community for both  residents and the many visitors who travel to Cody. Public art defines our society's diversity  and is essential to enhancing the social fabric of the region.

The mural will be painted on the west wall of the Seidel’s Saddlery (1200 Sheridan Avenue) building in downtown Cody. This wall is located across the street from the  historic Irma Hotel and provides the backdrop for Cody’s summer shootout show.

The desired artwork should celebrate Cody’s rich Western heritage through a traditional and vintage style, featuring dynamic imagery that captures the spirit of the region. The composition should draw inspiration from iconic figures, frontier history, and the rugged life of the American West.

This project is funded in part by the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund.

The submission deadline Friday at 11:59 p.m. The final artist is expected to be selected by Sept. 8.

If weather permits, artists should be available to complete their work by Oct. 30.
